First Northern Cape health exhibition aims to uplift healthcare sector─── CASEY-LEE ANTHONY 14:19 Fri, 25 Oct 2024
The Northern Cape healthcare sector is gearing up for its first-ever health exhibition where healthcare practitioners will be exposed to the latest advancements and get skills training.
Organisers hope to leave an impact on the province and establish the expo as an annual event, eventually including neighbouring provinces.
“We need to give back to the healthcare workers here,” said responsible pharmacist and manager Rahul Golbahram. “There’s no stimulation; there aren’t any events like you would get in Gauteng, Durban or Cape Town.”

Numerous pharmaceutical companies will exhibit their products and services, sharing relevant information. The aim is to develop the skills of all Northern Cape health practitioners, equipping them to better deal with various situations, said Golbahram. “We want to give back to our healthcare professionals in a way that will sharpen their skills.”
The expo is exclusive to healthcare professionals, including doctors, pharmacists, nurses, sisters, physiotherapists, and any members of the HPCSA, SANC, or SAPC.
Companies such as iNova, Eucerin, Idexis, and Mercedes-Benz will also take part, as well as various small Kimberley businesses.
Golbaharm said they’ve secured a sponsorship for the whole event. “Pharmaceutical companies are going to be taking care of everything else to ensure that all of our healthcare professionals are well equipped at the end of the day.”
The event is scheduled for 11:00 to 17:00 on Saturday, 16 November, in the hall of the Northern Cape Mental Health Hospital.
