Road maintenance work under way in Mahikeng─── 11:50 Sat, 25 Feb 2023
The North West Department of Public Works and Roads has given the green light to commence road maintenance work on Nelson Mandela Drive in Mahikeng.
The R47 million project started this week and is expected to finish by September 2023.
Maintenance will be done section by section. The Nelson Mandela Drive is the busiest road in Mahikeng as motorists enter and exit the province's capital city.
Departmental spokesperson Matsube Mfoloe told OFM News that it is all systems go as the appointed contractor Khosivuyo is on-site.
Mfoloe added that work began at Aerodrome road to William Dick, and it will take 12 weeks before moving to another section for four weeks.
This comes at a time when opposition parties have been calling on Premier Bushy Maape to attend to the state of the roads in the North West.
