The case against five suspects linked to the murder of a local undertaker, 75-year-old Kobus Fourie, whose body was discovered in his house on Van Zyl Street in Winnie Mandela (formerly known as Brandfort), has been postponed.
The five appeared in the Brandfort Magistrate's Court on Monday 23 January 2023.
The Free State National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping, says 32-year-old Ndabeni Sehlabaka and 35-year-old Lebogang Sesane have been charged with murder, while 24-year-old Molefi Seloka and 21-year-old Vuyelwa Kraal were charged with theft of property.
Phaladi adds that 38-year-old Pakiso Thenane has been charged with being in possession of a firearm. All suspects were arrested in Majwemasweu after they were found with a cell phone belonging to the deceased, as well as an unlicensed .22 Star pistol.
This happened after a domestic worker alerted police following the discovery of the deceased's body in a pool of blood on Thursday 19 January 2023.
