A civil movement calling itself Operation Dudula is set to launch in the North West in the coming week.

The North West provincial coordinator of Operation Dudula, Rollence Mabula, tells OFM News that the country has been troubled by illegal immigrants who have added to the burden of unemployed citizens in South Africa. He says that employers have opted for illegal immigrants as a result of cheap labour. Mabula also adds that they are troubled by stores owned by foreign nationals who do not pay tax.

Free State MEC for Agriculture and Land Reform, Thembeni Nxangisa, had called on livestock owners to refrain from hiring foreign nationals who do not have permits to work in the country. This after warning that employing foreign nationals who don’t have permits to work in the country, presents a challenge when they commit a crime, as it is difficult to trace them. Mbalula says that they will be in Rustenburg at Olympia Park Stadium in Bokone Bophirima next week Wednesday to officially launch Operation Dudula to teach people more about their movement.

“Operation Dudula stands for taking back the economy into the hands of South Africans, we want South Africans to be employed. We cannot be a country whereby South Africans are closed out and illegal immigrants are participating in our economy."

Mabula further adds that the government has to enforce and implement laws that would see illegal immigrants being shipped back to their countries.

President Cyril Ramaphosa had lambasted lawlessness directed at foreign nationals, citing that whether they are documented or undocumented, acts of lawlessness against them cannot be tolerated.
