Mantsopa residents call for mayor’s resignation | News Article

The water crisis experienced in the Mantsopa Local Municipality in the Free State will on Thursday once again come under public scrutiny.

This, as community members in Ladybrand have assembled at a meeting to take place at the Itumeleng Town Hall where they will be drawing up a plan of action following months without running water.

One of the community members, who would like to remain anonymous in fear of victimisation, tells OFM News their grievances to the municipality has fallen on deaf ears and they are calling for the resignation of the mayor. He says residents of Ladybrand have for years been subjected to poor service delivery despite their payments for services. Lack of water and electricity supply, potholes and sewage spillages have become the order of the day, according to this anonymous person. He says communities are not taken into account by the municipality and that the community now demands both the mayor and municipal manager to vacate office.

Meanwhile, the Mantsopa Municipality is yet to respond to OFM News’ inquiry.
