#SchoolViolence: 13-year-old in Brandfort court─── LUCKY NKUYANE 16:20 Tue, 22 Oct 2019
A 13-year-old child, accused of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, is to appear in the Brandfort Magistrate’s Court in the Free State.
This after he allegedly stabbed a fellow pupil, the 13-year-old Reatlehile Leeto, with a pair of scissors while they were queueing for food during break time at school.
Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, told OFM News the suspect was arrested and later released under the supervision of his parents.
The Department of Education spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, said Leeto was rushed to a hospital in Bloemfontein where he said to be in a stable condition. Ndaba expressed the department’s outrage at the incident and further said the MEC Tate Makgoe also expressed his shock.
The stabbing incident of Leeto follows that of Lungelo Khathane (16), a grade 9 pupil who was killed by a fellow pupil in Koffiefontein last week.
