Soutpan protesters appear in court─── 15:57 Wed, 18 Sep 2019
Protesters who were arrested on Monday in Soutpan in the Free State, appeared in the Brandfort Magistrate’s Court this morning and their case was postponed to 30 September for bail applications.
In the early hours of Monday morning, residents of Soutpan commenced with a total shutdown of businesses, schools and transport. The residents are displeased with poor service delivery. SAPS spokesperson, Sinah Mpakane, confirmed nine suspects were arrested on charges of public violence.
On Tuesday the residents were expecting Free State premier, Sisi Ntombela, to come address their issues. OFM News contacted the Premier’s Office for a comment and they said they were not aware of this. At the time of publishing, the shutdown continued.
