Former mayor optimistic about by-elections─── 10:48 Tue, 06 Aug 2019
A former mayor at the Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality, Gilbert Mokotso, believes that his ward in Makwane, Qwaqwa, in the Free State, will stand by him in the coming by-elections.
Mokotso is one of the 16 expelled African National Congress (ANC) councillors who officially parted ways with the party yesterday.
Speaking to OFM News this morning, he stated that he is ready to contest the by-elections on the 28th of this month as an independent candidate. According to him, residents of Maluti-A-Phofung, Ward 31 in particular, know that he is against corruption and fights for better service delivery.
In addition, he further stated that the plan to win all 15 wards by the independent candidates from the ANC, is to ensure that they work tirelessly together with the opposition parties for retaining the stability at Maluti-A-Phofung. Mokotso urged residents of the affected wards to come in numbers to vote for them in the coming by-elections.
