ANCWL has high expectations for ANC─── SAZLY HARTZENBERG 06:35 Sun, 17 Feb 2019
The executive mayor, Olly Mlamleli, urged the ANC to look after the women in the country.
At the Free State manifesto launch at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday, the executive mayor of the metro, Olly Mlamleli, spoke on behalf of the ANC woman's league. In her address she said that the womens' league is present at the launch to hear what the ANC's leadership has to say about the unemployment rate, land related issues and bursaries for their children.
Mlamleli added that schools are expensive and on top of that parents have to buy other school-related items. She further said that the children have to walk far from home to school and this too is a problem.
She further said that the ANC national chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, cannot leave the venue today if he had not addressed people with disabilities, as they were present at the manifesto to show their support.
This comes after OFM News previously reported that the Free State manifesto finally got underway at the Dr Petrus Molema Stadium in Bloemfontein yesterday, after a 2-hour delay, since it was expected to start at 10. The party's leadership arrived at the semi-packed stadium where they interacted with the crowd, who were dressed in ANC regalia, chanting struggle songs while others still made their way into the stadium.
This is just a few days after Mlamleli committed R1 million from the Mangaung metro municipality to the next generation Women in Leadership Programme at the Central University of Technology.
