“Any person who might have information is requested to contact the Bethlehem police.”

Bethlehem police have requested the community’s assistance in locating a pastor and his wife who left home to attend a church conference in Parys on Friday. They have never arrived.

Phillip Mashudu (55) and his wife Elsie Mashudu (54) left home driving their family car, a white Mercedes-Benz GLS with registration ALTAR FS. Phillip was last seen wearing blue jeans and Elsie wore black jeans with a black jersey.

“We are still searching for the pastor and his wife as they did not arrive at the church conference in Parys,” says Free State police spokesperson Mmako Mophiring. “We are urging anyone with information to contact Bethlehem Detective Commander, Lt Col Nel on 082 526 2717 or 08 600 10 111.”

Five dead in head-on collision

Meanwhile, Marquard police are looking for the next of kin or relatives of five people who died in an accident on Friday (23/8).  The five people lost their lives on the R707 between Marquard and Senekal when two sedan vehicles, one from Lesotho and the other from South Africa, were involved in a head-on collision.  Three women and two men died instantly on the scene.

“A black BMW with Lesotho registration number plates was driven by a male and a white KIA with with Gauteng registration plates had a male driver and three female passengers,” says Mophiring. “A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.”
