Residents of the Bojanala District in North West are urged to capitalise on the Phelophepa Healthcare Train which will be in their area on Wednesday.

MEC for Health in the province, Madoda Sambatha, is expected to officially welcome the Transnet-Phelophepa train and its medical team at the Rustenburg Station in the Bojanala District on Wednesday. It will be rendering essential services to the community around Rustenburg from 16 – 25 August 2023.

North West Health Spokesperson, Tebogo Lekgethwane, said some of the healthcare services include illnesses such as cancer and diabetes (pap smear, prostate and breast screening), an eye clinic (eye tests, eye drops) – excluding operations, a dental clinic (extraction, fillings and cleaning) – no false teeth, and counselling. Services will be provided from 07:30 until 16:00.

He urged residents to use the opportunity to look after their health and further advised residents to bring along their clinic cards. He also requested parents to bring their children’s Road to Health Booklet. The majority of services will be offered free of charge and some may be charged a nominal fee of R5 to R30.
