Bloemfontein hip-hop DJ Katleho Mokhethi has been selected as one of four females to join the Play energy drink's female DJ's programme called 'She Plays'.

The programme, led by DBN Gogo, aims to introduce female DJs to the industry and the different platforms to which the energy drink has access.

For the duration of the programme, Mokhethi, also known as DJ Binnz, and three other ladies will join the national female artist, DBN Gogo, for a year of touring and learning all the tricks of the trade of becoming a great DJ.

Mokhethi says it feels great to be given the opportunity to learn from DBN Gogo, as well as the brand. "I believe I have a lot to learn from both brands. It’s going to put me on a different platform and introduce me to other dope promoters and superstar DJs."

Recently, she was a top 10 finalist in Smirnoff's female DJ 2023 competition. She believes the two blessings within a month have taught her to never stop going and never stop striving for what she wants to achieve.

"I now stand as an ambassador for these two gigantic brands, who saw something in me and wanted me to be a part of their teams and learn from them while also sharing my own skills and talents with them."

Mokhethi started her career in 2014 at the Fuse Academy for female DJs in Newtown, Johannesburg. She concluded that she wants to be one of the pioneers who take South African hip-hop around the world because the country has so much to offer.
