Candles left to light during night shift at Bloemfontein clinic─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 15:05 Wed, 13 Jul 2022
The Bloemfontein Community Clinic, the MUCPP, was allegedly operating with candlelight last night during load-shedding.
The chairperson of the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), Bongani Majola, explained to OFM News that they went on an oversight visit to the clinic on Monday and they were told there is a generator. The generator in question, however, had technical issues so it was a problem for it to kick in during load-shedding.
The spokesperson for the Free State Department of Health, Mondli Mvambi, stated that there is indeed a generator at the clinic and it is fully functional. Majola further explains he is unsure if the generator issue received attention since their visit.

Majola also stated that they had a meeting with the infrastructure team and the MEC, Montsheng Tsiu, who committed themselves to going to the clinic to check if the issue of the generator is not sorted. The SAHRC team is on an oversight visit in the province this week to monitor the state of health facilities. They have so far made a visit to Pelonomi and MUCPP.
