The World Javelin Champion at just 16 years old, Tamzin Brits, who hails from Klerksdorp in the North West, is now a Protea women’s cricket player.
According to Brits, the change in her sporting career came after she was involved in a car accident.
“I needed to play sport to keep myself busy, because I am crazy about sport, I then started playing cricket again, and in 2018, I got the call to represent my country in cricket,” she said.
She further added that her biggest achievement thus far in cricket has to definitely be the fact that she currently has the opportunity to play in the Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Being a batswoman for the Protea’s, her biggest inspiration, or a cricket player she looks up to, has to be Quinton de Kock, she absolutely loves the way he bats, and Virat Kohli, she admires his work ethic.
“My biggest achievement has to be when I was player of the series after the last game my dad witnessed me play,” Brits said.
She added that if her cricket career had not worked out, she would have pursued a career in golf.
Brits is currently competing in the Women’s Cricket World Cup.
