Suspect in court on stock theft charges─── 07:18 Mon, 09 May 2022
A suspect arrested in connection with the theft of thirty five Bonsmara cattle from a farm near Odendaalsrus on Friday will appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s Court today.
The suspect is facing charges of being in possession ofsuspected stolen livestock as well as being in the country illegally. A secondmanaged to flee.

The Police’s Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit in theLejweleputswa district were dispatched to search the area last week, andrecovered nineteen head of cattle.

Police followed tracks in a maize field for several kilometresbefore they found ten head of cattle abandoned.
An additional nineteen animals were found seven kilometres fromthe farm where they were stolen.
At the time police indicated six animals are still missing.
The retrieved animals were handed back to their owner afterpositively identifying them as his live stock.
