Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader, Julius Malema, has launched a scathing attack on the chairperson of the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture, Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) Raymond Zondo.

Malema was responding to recent media reports that the commission wants to look into his financial affairs and scrutinise his bank statements.

He says the commission should not approach him through the media, but should instead indicate a date and time for him to furnish the commission with his financial statements.

Malema has threatened to expose Judge Zondo if he allows himself to be used for what he terms "political reasons".

Zondo Commission spokesperson, Reverend Mbuyiselo Stemela, is yet to comment on OFM News' inquiry.

“He (Zondo) is a human being like us and if he wants me he will get me. If he wants to use the commission we have established ourselves to further the political agenda of Jamnandas (Pravin Gordhan) and Cryril Ramaphosa, we will expose him for who is. We are not scared, we are not scared of nothing (because) they tried me before," Malema added.

According to a report by the Sunday Times, the commission has issued subpoenas to South Africa’s major banks to provide information on more than 36 entities.

These include Malema’s financial records and those of his wife Mantoa, his late grandmother Sarah, his lawyer Ian Levitt, his Ratanang Family Trust, as well as a number of companies linked to him.

Allegedly included on the list are Floyd Shivambu, his brother, Brian, and Brian’s companies, which allegedly illegally benefitted from the R2.3 billion VBS Mutual Bank heist".
