Some of the Springboks arrived to loud cheers of a large crowd at the OR Tambo International Airport.
The Boks won the Rugby World Cup in Japan on Saturday, beating England.
The first set of players walked through the gates with fans trying to catch a glimpse. Among the first players to land are Duane Vermeulen, Cheslin Kolbe and Makazole Mapimpi.
There is a heavy police presence around the airport with a huge crowd to welcome the Springboks back from Japan.
Vermuelen was man of the match in the final, Mapimpi was the first Springbok player to score a try in the world cup final, while Kolbe all but secured the trophy when he scored SA's second try.
Captain Siya Kolisi, director of rugby Rassie Erasmus and vice-captain Handré Pollard are expected to arrive later on Tuesday night.
