“The South African men’s 4 x 400m relay team is through to the final at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.”

The South African men’s 4 x 400m relay team is through to the final at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. South Africa was thrown a major lifeline after not being able to qualify automatically after they finished sixth in their Heat in a time of 3:03.19 on Friday.

Nigeria, who finished second in the Heat was disqualified by the referee for a lane infringement. This also comes after Nortjé had a tumble in the third leg of the relay.

South Africa, who were represented by Gardeo Isaacs, Zakhiti Nene, Antonie Nortjé and Lythe Pillay, were promoted to the final by the referee.

Botswana were the fastest qualifiers for the final after running a season’s best 2:75.76 in Heat 1, while France was the fastest in Heat 2 with 2:59.53. The 4 x 400m final at Stade de France will take place at 21:00 tonight.

Meanwhile, on Friday night, South Africa will be running in the final of the men’s 4 x 100m final.

The two teenagers Bayanda Walaza and Bradley Nkoana as well as Shaun Maswanganyi and Akani Simbine will line up in the final for South Africa. On Thursday, South Africa came from far behind in the final stretch to finish second in their Heat and advance.
