The African champions will be flying to Jamaica via Miami on Friday for what promises to be a gruelling three-Test series against the world’s current second-ranked team.

Visser has been called up to the Proteas for the first time, replacing Free State stalwart Karla Pretorius, who misses out due to family commitments. Pretorius, the vice-captain of the national side, will not only miss the trip to the West Indies but will also be unavailable for the upcoming Nations Cup, which will be played in England in February.

Visser, who also represents the North-West University, said she is thrilled to represent her country at the highest level.

“I am beyond excited and honoured to have been selected to represent the senior Proteas team for the first time,” said Visser.

“This is an opportunity to compete in Jamaica, and it feels like a dream come true. It's a moment I’ve worked so hard for, and to wear the national colours and represent my country on such a prestigious stage is truly humbling.

The first Test between the Sunshine Girls and South Africa will be played next Saturday in Kingston.
