Johannesburg - The ANC National executive committee has opened its nomination process.
Last night the ruling party instructed branches across the country to begin drawing up their nomination lists.
Its elective conference is set to take place in December.
Among the presidential candidates are former AU chair Nkosazana-Dlamini Zuma, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and Human Settlements Minister Lindiwe Sisulu.
Over 4 700 people are expected to vote for the party's new national leadership.
Each province has been allocated a certain number of delegates on a proportionality basis.
KwaZulu-Natal has the largest number of representatives with 870.
ANC Secretay-General Gwede Mantashe briefed media on the conference earlier.
