Deceased ANC MP's name revealed─── CATHY DLODLO 16:19 Wed, 02 Aug 2017
Cape Town - The ANC have confirmed that MP Timothy Khoza is the Member of Parliament who died during an accident near Paarl, Cape Town, this morning.
He was travelling in the car with other co-members of parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Basic Education. The vehicle reportedly overturned and Khoza died on the scene while three other occupants were seriously injured.
ANC spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, said the injured - ANC MP and Committee chairperson, Nomalungelo Gina, DA MP Ian Ollis, and UDM MP Cynthia Majeke - are receiving treatment for injuries. He conveyed condolences, on behalf of the ANC, to the Khoza family, saying the MP died in the line of duty, serving his country.
Members of the committee were on their way to visit a school in the area as part of oversight visits to schools in the Western Cape. Meanwhile, the rest of the visits that formed part of the programme have been suspended.
