Bloemfontein - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has completed the first phase of the revitalisation of Botshabelo’s Industrial Park in the Free State.
Spokesperson Sidwell Medupe says the first phase focused on the upgrading of the park’s infrastructure, including among others, fencing, street lighting and electricity.
The project started last year and cost R24 million.
“The objective of the programme is to revitalise state-owned industrial parks across the country in order to promote industrialisation and increase its contribution to job creation and the country’s economic growth. According to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, the DTI identified a need to revitalise industrial parks located in various parts of the country, mainly the former homelands, as part of the department's efforts to promote industrialisation, manufacturing and job creation.”
