New Zealand's 2-0 series win is their first series victory in India and ends India's run of 18 consecutive home series wins.

India suffered their first series at home in 12 years, when they were bowled out for 245 by New Zealand in their chase of 359 on the third day of the second test on Saturday.  Man of the Match Mitchell Santner took six wickets and ended with 6-104 for a match haul of 13.

New Zealand's 2-0 series win is their first series victory in India and ends India's run of 18 consecutive home series wins.

New Zealand were bowled out for 255 on the third morning and set India a score of 359 to win. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 77 off 65 balls giving the hosts hope, but he was caught by Daryl Mitchell off Santner’s bowling.  Captain Rohit Sharma failed to get going and Rishabh Pant was run out for a duck after lunch, leaving India in deep trouble at 127-4. There was some resistance from Ravindra Jadeja but the all-rounder was the last man out for 42.

India were eventually bowled out for 245 in the evening session.

After the match, Sharma told media that the team simply wasn’t good enough on the day.

"It's disappointing," he said. "It's not what we expected but you've got to give credit to New Zealand. They played better than us. We failed to capitalise on certain moments in the game, we failed to respond to those challenges and we sit here with this result.

"I don't think we batted well enough. To win tests you need to take 20 wickets, but the batsmen have to put runs on the board as well... we knew it was going to be challenging but we gave it our all."
