England capitulate in Rawalpindi to give Pakistan Test series win─── ILSE SMALBERGER 12:07 Sat, 26 Oct 2024
It is only the second time Pakistan have come from behind in a series and the first time they have done so at home.
Pakistan have won a Test series at home for the first time since 2021, coming back from 1-0 down to take the series against England 2-1. England cracked before lunch on the third day of the final Test in Rawalpindi, managing only 112 all out – their lowest-ever total in Pakistan.
It is only the second time Pakistan have come from behind in a series and the first time they have done so at home. Just like in the first innings and the second Test in Multan, Noman Ali, and Sajid Khan gave the England batsmen nightmares, bagging all 10 wickets.

Congratulations on a thrilling 2-1 Test series victory over England. First test series win for the captain Shan Masood and a major applause for our spinners, who dominated with 40 wickets in the last two games! ????#PAKvENG pic.twitter.com/6ViA7qcSRK
England started Saturday morning only 53 behind on 24 for 3, and Harry Brook and Joe Root began with confidence. But Brook edged a ball off Noman and it was the beginning of the end for England, who lost seven wickets for 46 runs.
Pakistan only needed 36 to win the Test and it was done easily by captain Shan Masood, who clobbered 23 runs off six deliveries.

After the match, Masood expressed his joy at the match and series win.
“This group, management, the board, what they have been through in the past few weeks – that means a lot. For everyone to stand up and give their best means a lot.”
England captain, Ben Stokes, said the pressure of a Test match clearly got to the squad. “It's disappointing but whether we do well or not, we try to take the positives. Regardless of the result, we should focus on what went right. You’ve got to practise but the pressures of Test match cricket can never be replicated.”
