South Africa resumed their first innings on 140/6 on Tuesday morning with Kyle Verreynne on 18 and Wiaan Mulder on 17.

An outstanding 114 runs by the wicketkeeper Verreynne, 54 by Mulder as well as a very handy 32 by Dane Piedt of the Knights took the Proteas a first innings score to 308 before being bowled out.

Taijul Islam was the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers with 5/122, while Hasan Mahmud took 3/66.

Bangladesh were in trouble at 4/2 38 by Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Mushfiqur Rahim saw them to 101/3 win play was called for bad light.

‘This one probably for me felt like a better one’

Kagiso Rabada who took his 300th wicket on the day struck early for South Africa and during his seven overs on Tuesday took 2/10, while Keshav Maharaj also claimed a scalp.

Verreynne said for him today’s ton was the better of his two.

“I think this one probably for me felt like a better one, just in terms of the context of the game and the conditions,” said the Western Province player.

“Obviously I think New Zealand is a lot similar to our conditions back home, so to do it in the subcontinent and on quite a tough wicket and in tough circumstances I think for me it's probably a better innings.

“Like I said the impact that it’s had on the game I think hopefully will be a bit bigger than the first one, so from my side I’m really happy with it, it’s been a long time since the one in New Zealand so it’s nice to sort of get another one and contribute in another game.”

Bangladesh will resume their second innings Wednesday morning still trailing by 101 runs with 7 wickets in hand.
