The Knights went into the game on the back of a 3-run defeat against the North West Dragons in Bloemfontein according to the DLS method and a super over loss to Boland in Paarl.

The Knights clinched their first win of the CSA T20 Challenge with a 16-run victory against the star-studded Warriors in Gqeberha on Sunday.

The Knights had a bat first at St George's Park and scored 166/9 in their allotted 20-overs.

Garnett Tarr scored 50 off 28 balls, while Jacques Snyman scored 42 off 26. Tarr het three fours and four sixes in his blistering knock, while Snyman struck five fours and two sixes.

Lesego Senokwane in turn contributed with a very handy 27, while at the backend of the innings the seasoned spinner Aaron Phangiso scored 18.

Malusi Siboto - Morgan Piek

Siya Simetu was the pick of the Warriors bowlers with 2/18 in his 4-overs, while the Protea and former Knights allrounder Patrick Kruger took 2/24 in 3-overs.

In reply, Matthew Breetzke scored 66 and Jordan Hermann scored 51 to put on a 108-run opening partnership, Malusi Siboto took 4/28 as the Warriors were restricted to 150/6. This performance by Siboto has installed him as the leading wicket-taker in the T20 Challenge with eight wickets at an average of 12.12.

On Wednesday the Knights will face the Lions in Bloemfontein.

Meanwhile, over in Potchefstroom the North West Dragons beat Boland by 3-runs for their third straight win. Meeka-eel Prince scored 83 as the Dragons reached 176/5 in their allotted 20-overs at the JB Marks Oval. Boland in turn were restricted to 173/7 in their innings with Lesiba Ngoepe taking 2/15 in 20-overs.

On Wednesday the Dragons will face the Dolphins at Kingsmead in Durban.
