“The Knights were in trouble at 64 for three in the 12th over, but a strong partnership of 71 runs from 47 balls between Forrester and Botha put them back in the game.”

A tense super over gave Boland the victory against the Knights on Friday night at Boland Park in Paarl in a thrilling CSA T20 Challenge encounter.

The Knights won the toss and captain Dane Piedt chose to bowl first. The opening batsman for Boland, Grant Roelofson, was most successful for his team, scoring 51 runs from 38 balls before being bowled and caught by Piedt. The only other contributions of note came from captain Clyde Fortuin (24 off 12) and Ferisco Adams (20 off 29).

For the Knights Dian Forrester went for 14 runs in his opening over but claimed a hattrick in the final over having Keith Dudgeon (5) caught by Patrick Botha on the fence, castling Imraan Manack and trapping Siyabonga Mahima in front, restricting Boland to 141 in 19.5 overs.

The Knights were in trouble at 64 for three in the 12th over, but a strong partnership of 71 runs from 47 balls between Forrester and Botha put them back in the game.  Dudgeon defended six runs off the final six balls to send the game into overtime as the visitors ended on 141 for four.

Dudgeon restricted the Knights to just a single run from four balls in the super over with Forrester being run out by Clyde Fortuin and Patrick Botha being caught in the deep by Pieter Malan.

In reply, Boland needed just two runs and lost Grant Roelofsen's first ball, bowled by Aaron Phangiso, but Clyde Fortuin guided the next ball for the winning runs.

The Knights narrowly lost both their CSA T20 Challenges matches so far and remain without points in the competition. They will now travel to Gqeberha where they will take on the Warriors on Sunday.
