“Together, we aim to foster a culture of excellence and achievement within USA Cricket, paving the way for a successful future on the international stage.”

The former Proteas Women’s coach, Hilton Moreeng, has landed a new job in international cricket.

This comes a few months after he quit the South African women’s team following a fruitful 11-year stint.

Moreeng’s big achievement with the national women’s team was to lead to the final of the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa, where they unfortunately fell short to Australia in Cape Town.

The former Free State wicketkeeper, Moreeng, has been named as the new head coach of the USA 19 and Senior women’s teams.

Moreeng said he is excited and ready for the new challenge that lies ahead.

“I am thrilled to join USA Cricket and eager to collaborate with both current players and emerging talent,” said the Kimberley-born Moreeng.

“My goal is to methodically build a competitive squad capable of rivalling the best in women's cricket globally.

“Together, we aim to foster a culture of excellence and achievement within USA Cricket, paving the way for a successful future on the international stage.”

The former Knights allrounder, Dillon du Preez, is currently the interim head coach of the South African women’s team for their for the tour of India. It remains to be seen if he will take the team to Bangladesh later in the year for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
