A prominent Bloemfontein businessman has highlighted the township of Mangaung’s potential as a hub of creativity, talent, and investment.

The successful second edition of the Lemo Fest, which took place over the past three weekends, was marked by sold-out shows and a diverse array of activities, reinforcing its place as one of the city’s most significant cultural events and a major contributor to economic growth.

Thousands of festivalgoers celebrated South African culture through music performances, fashion showcases, entrepreneurial inspiration sessions, and community fitness activities.

The event generated widespread economic benefits for local businesses, said Freddie Kenney, creating jobs and supporting young entrepreneurs with an estimated investment of over R80 million.

“We are beyond grateful to our community, partners, media, and law enforcement for their support in making this festival a resounding success,” Kenney said.

“Thanks to everyone involved. We were able to create something truly special –empowering young talent, businesses, and entrepreneurs while also bringing joy to thousands of festivalgoers.”

The festival is not just about entertainment, but also a platform for growth and unity within the township. “This festival is a celebration of what makes our community strong: growth, unity, and opportunity. We’ve successfully shown that our townships are hubs of creativity, potential, and investment.”
