“The family is very humbled and thankful for this opportunity and are now hopeful.”
The Shoprite Checkers OFM Chip 4 Charity has proved to be a success as more than R300,000 was raised in partnership with Round Table. The proceeds of the event on Thursday (25/7) will go to Dominique Prinsloo and Voetlig Ministries in Orkney, North West.
“This means the world to us,” said Dominique’s mother, Corene Prinsloo. “It’s going to change our lives. We are humbled and thankful to Central SA for opening their hearts to help us.”
The family is grateful for the renewed hope the donation gives them regarding their daughter’s comfort. “We’ll be buying enough supplies like nappies, etc. so that we don’t run out in the middle of the month for example.”
The family would also like to acquire a wheelchair lift to be mounted on the outside of their car to make more space inside for Dominique and her sister.

Voetlig Ministries in Orkney also expressed their gratitude, saying it’s given the church a new sense of hope. “In Orkney, the unemployment, crime, and darkness increase daily and then, of course, the need for food, food bowls, physical care for children and families and the elderly,” said Pastor Petro Kotzé.
“We are very thankful for each individual and institution that is involved in the church,” she said, adding this opportunity gives the church “a much-needed push forward”.

Voetlig never had a permanent building to call their own and has for the past 13 years been working in rented buildings. The church aims to make use of the money as a deposit to finally get a building of its own.
