“Voters are urged to take this opportunity to exercise their democratic right by registering.”
The second and final voter registration weekend is under way in different parts of the country, including the Free State. Voters went out in numbers to register to be able to participate in the 2024 national and provincial elections.

Registration centres are located across Bloemfontein, with voters currently registering at Eunice High School for Girls, Bainsvlei Combined School, Bloemheuwel NG Kerk, and St Michaels School.
“For day one we at the IEC are very pleased with the activities. We have about 1 586 voting stations. These were open until five on Saturday afternoon. We attended to over 43 683 electorates, said spokesperson Mmathabo Rasengane.

“Registration continues on Sunday (4/2) from 08:00 till 17:00 and the self-registration platform may also be used during this weekend and beyond on the Register to Vote portal.”
The youth came out in numbers to register to vote. There were 43 630 people in the 16-year-old to 21-year-old age bracket who registered to vote on the first day.

OFM News spoke to residents at the different registration stations on whether they registered to vote and their expectations of the new ruling party that will come into effect.
“I have registered to vote and I have high hopes for our country to be saved by the DA and that corruption will be stopped so that our taxes can be used correctly, that everyone can have a better life in South Africa,” said one of the voters at the Eunice High School for Girls registration station.

“Yes I am registered to vote, my expectations for the new political party would be better service delivery and the implementation of policies,” said another voter at the Bainsvlei Combined School's registration station.
