It remains to be seen if the ruling party mayor will reward the ATM with a position.
The Mangaung Metro Municipality is on Thursday (19/10) expected to announce its new Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs).
This after the ANC and its coalition partners, including the African Transformation Movement, voted for ANC's councillor Gregory Nthatisi as the Metro's Executive Mayor following a council-marred controversy.
It remains to be seen if the ruling party mayor will reward the ATM with a position in the MMC. It also remains to be seen who will replace former Finance MMC, Lulama Odile Titi, who now occupies the position of Deputy Mayor.
The election of Nthatisi as the executive mayor comes after former troubled mayor Mxolisi Siyonzana resigned following internal pressure from the ANC.
Last week before the sitting, it emerged that the leader of the Afrikan Alliance of Social Democrats, led by Papi Mokoena, had expressed his concern over the item of the mayor and chief whip's election included in that sitting.
In a letter of demands sent by his lawyer, Mokoena said the two items should not be included as they are before the court for further inspection.
Mokoena was previously elected as the executive mayor of the metro after some ANC councillors were at odds with the controversial Mangaung ANC.
However, his election as mayor was short-lived. The ANC scored a victory when the High Court judge Sharon Chisiwe upheld her interim order, barring Mokoena from carrying out any responsibilities as the mayor of the metro.
