The Mangaung Metro Municipality swiftly addressed a sewage spillage at the Freedom Square Clinic in Bloemfontein.
Free State Department of Health spokesperson Mondli Mvambi says the municipality dispatched a team to unblock the drains at the clinic on Friday.
Mvambi says the spillage caused a significant mess in the clinic's yard, but the municipality's team reportedly assisted with the cleanup efforts.
He adds the department has pledged to monitor the situation to ensure that the clinic's services are provided under acceptable and hygienenic conditions for both patients and healthcare workers.
“The district maintenance team is ensuring that the cleaning process also meets the Infection Prevention Control Measures,” says Mvambi.
He adds services have not been interrupted and the clinic's mobile bus remains stationed at the clinic.
