North West municipality announces planned water cuts─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 12:20 Tue, 10 Jan 2023
The Magalies Water Board has issued a warning about planned water cuts at the Moses Kotane Local Municipality in the North West.
The spokesperson for Magalies Water, David Magae, says water supply disruptions in the area are mainly due to repair work which has become necessary on the 2D Pump, which supplies the scheme after numerous functionality-related challenges which were communicated on Friday 6 January 2023.
He adds that the pump started experiencing functional challenges as a result of power cuts by Eskom. According to Magae, the power outages have impacted operations negatively and affected bulk water supply to residents.
Magae says they have since sourced an external service provider which is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to implement the repairs. He adds that at this stage there is no estimated time on the completion of repairs, however, an update will be communicated regularly.
The water supply entity has since apologised for any inconvenience caused and encouraged consumers to use water sparingly during this period in order to prevent prolonged water supply interruptions as water cuts will be experienced regularly in the Moses Kotane municipality, Thabazimbi Local Municipality and mines operating in the above areas during this period.
