Rape case against doctor postponed─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:39 Tue, 23 Aug 2022
A Northern Cape medical doctor accused of raping a minor has officially applied for bail.
This follows his appearance at the Kimberley District Court on Monday.
The medical practitioner is accused of raping a 17-year-old patient at his surgery on 15 August, when the teen allegedly visited his surgery for a medical examination.
The case against the accused has been postponed to 24 August 2022 for a formal bail hearing.
Meanwhile, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson in the province, Mojalefa Senokotsoane, says that the doctor also has another alleged sexual assault case against him.

"Before the bail application, the doctor also made a first court appearance in the Kimberley District Court, on a charge of sexual assault. It is alleged that on 20 April 2022, the accused sexually assaulted a 25-year-old patient during a medical examination.
"The matter was postponed to 26 August 2022, for possible bail application," adds Senokotsoane.
Investigations led by the police continue in both cases against the doctor.
