The ousted Centlec Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has been found in contempt of court after she was interdicted by the Bloemfontein-based Mangaung Metro Municipality’s power entity.

A Free State High Court judge, Joseph Mhlambi, found that Hlonelwa Nkomo has disregarded a court order which barred her from representing herself as the entity’s CFO, among others.

Mhlambi has further punished Nkomo by sentencing her to three months in prison and she is expected to present herself to authorities within five days. Nkomo is, however, set to appeal the decision by Judge Mhlambi.

In court documents furnished by Centlec last month, Judge Soma Naidoo interdicted Nkomo, preventing her to mention details which were yet to be aired in court with regard to an application she made in June, in a matter against Centlec’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Malefane Sekoboto.

In her court affidavit, Nkomo alleges that there was no advertised position, that no interviews were held with Sekoboto, and that there is no endorsement on record from the board of directors. The entity and its CEO are yet to comment on OFM News' enquiry.

“Upon the said appointment, the respondent failed to disclose he is ineligible for appointment as the director does not satisfy the qualifications as per the company’s memorandum of incorporation. Upon the said appointment, the respondent failed to disclose that he has been convicted of criminal offences which would have disqualified the respondent from serving as a director,” Nkomo adds in her court affidavit. She has also produced a case number as evidence to the court, in her attempt to declare Sekoboto as a delinquent director. He is also been accused of abusing his power as the CEO.
