Protests in Ottosdal calm down - WATCH─── 12:49 Wed, 10 Jul 2019
The situation in the central business district in Ottosdal in North West has now calmed down after the police managed to disperse the crowds in town.
Farmers are seen cleaning the roads and fires were distinguished. This after local residents set the Traffic Department's offices and the boardroom of the local municipality on fire when residents protested over a lack of service delivery, which includes bad roads, the lack of sports infrastructure, ongoing water shortages, and corruption.
Jurie Botha from the Freedom Front Plus in Tswaing says what happened this morning was unacceptable as businesses were badly affected. Public order policing are seen monitoring roads to ensure stability.
The residents are now blocking the main entrance to the township with burning tyres whilst singing slogans as they continue to demand intervention from Premier Job Mokgoko.
