Port Elizabeth - The explosion and subsequent fire at a factory in Middelburg on Monday has claimed its first victim.
The Eastern Cape health department says a female patient, one of 18 people who were seriously injured after the incident, died of her injuries in a Port Elizabeth hospital last night.
More than 30 people suffered burns following the blast at the Rolfe Laboratories factory in Middelburg on Monday.
