Home Affairs investigating ANN7 staff | News Article
Johannesburg - The department of home affairs on Monday confirmed that an investigation had been launched into visa irregularities at the news channel Africa News Network 7 (ANN7).

This comes after an investigation by Eyewitness News (EWN) uncovered yet more controversy regarding the much talked about Gupta-owned news channel.

According to EWN the parent company of the 24 hour news channel, Infinity Media, did not comply with immigration laws when they brought in about two dozen production shareholders to help get the channel off the ground in South Africa.

Former consulting editor for the network, Rajesh Sundaram, told EWN that his colleagues who joined him from India did not have the required documentation to work in South Africa.

According to the network’s management all its paperwork is in order.

However, EWN revealed that the home affairs' immigration database lists four Indian ANN7 employees who stated "holiday" as their reason for being in South Africa.

Home affairs spokesperson, Ronnie Mamoepa, confirmed that they are investigating the allegations against ANN7.
