“Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Head Coach of the men’s first team, subject to work visa requirements.”
The English football giants, Manchester United, have appointed their new head coach less than a week after the axing of Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils have managed to sign Ruben Amorim as the new coach and this is subject to work visa requirements.
On Monday the Dutch coach, Ten Hag, was sacked following United’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham in London on Sunday. Amorim who was heavily linked with United’s North West rivals Liverpool during the offseason has signed a deal to make Old Trafford his home until at least June 2027.
Amorim will link up with the team on 11 November and Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to act as the interim head coach until then.

The club confirmed the appointment of Amorim on Friday afternoon.

“He will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year, once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club. He will join Manchester United on Monday 11 November.

“Ruben is one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football. Highly decorated as both a player and coach, his titles include winning the Primeira Liga twice in Portugal with Sporting CP; the first of which was the club’s first title in 19 years.
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to take charge of the team until Ruben joins.”
On Sunday, the 14th-placed United will host Chelsea at Old Trafford in the English Premiership.
