“If I look at our group for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers in Morocco, I think I can be satisfied with the draw, but also very careful.”

The Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, will take the cautious approach with regards to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers draw.

South Africa, who won the bronze medal at the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast received quite a favourable draw, but it is also one that can trip them up if they don’t throw caution to the win.

Bafana are in Group K for the qualifiers along with Congo Brazzaville, South Sudan and Uganda.

Speaking from his native Belgium, Broos, said that his team set the bar high during the previous AFCON.

“If I look at our group for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers in Morocco, I think I can be satisfied with the draw, but also very careful,” said Broos.

“First of all, we have Uganda, and they are a very powerful team, and very difficult to play against, so I think we have to achieve our best level.

“Secondly, we have Congo - Congo is a more technical team, very dangerous when they play at home, so again we need a very good performance.

“Lastly, South Sudan - South Sudan is for me a completely unknown team. It will be very important to have a good analysis of that opponent, so that we don't lose too many points against them.

“It can be very important, but when we see our performance in the beginning of this year in January in Ivory Coast where we achieved the bronze medal and also the following games, I think we can be very confident.

“It will be important to achieve our good level of the last months, and I think then we have to say that in this group we have, can qualify for AFCON 2025 in Morocco.”

CAF are yet to confirm the fixtures, but the first round will get underway in September.
