The legendary former Bafana Bafana coach, Clive Barker, passed away on Saturday at the age of 78.

In March this year Barker was disagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia.

Barker is famous for coaching the South Africa national football team to the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations title, which to this day remains the teams biggest success on the international stage.

"The Premier Soccer League stated that a moment of silence will be observed for the late Barker ahead of Saturday's promotion playoff fixture.

"The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is deeply saddened by the passing of legendary former Bafana Bafana coach, Mr. Clive Barker.

"A moment of silence will be observed in his honour at both remaining Promotion Play-off fixtures (Saturday afternoon and Wednesday evening).

"The PSL sends heartfelt condolences to the Barker family, and the football fraternity at large.

"May his soul repose peacefully."

Barker coached professional football in South Africa for 42 years and enjoyed stints with AmaZulu, Manning Rangers, Durban City, Durban Bush Bucks, Santos and Wits. The last team he coached was Maritzburg United in 2016.
