The Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder, Tebogo Potsane, has landed himself in hot water after impersonating a soldier of the South African National Defence Force.

The 26-year-old joked about killing someone on a video that was posted on various social media platforms. In the video, he was seen wearing military fatigues and impersonating a soldier of the SANDF.

“You see, those who would be busy roaming the streets while we are busy here. Wait and see what I'm going to do to them,” Potsane said in the video.

“I am training guys, I am not playing around and I'm not going to show you any mercy. I'm going to kill someone.”

This comes in a time as South Africa is in lockdown in order to combat the rapid spread of the Covid-19 virus. As a measure to keep citizens of the country adhering to the rules of the lockdown, the military has been deployed to help the South African Police Services.

His actions were deemed to be reckless and insensitive.

According to a report, Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco admitted that it was an error in judgment by the star player, and his rubbished the idea of Potsane being suspended.

“There is no such thing, suspend him for what? People are on lockdown. How do you suspend someone if they are on lockdown?

“It was a mistake man. It is a small mistake, he didn't know that. But everyone knows that wearing the police or soldier uniform is a problem, so it is already sorted.

“We are not going to fine him or whatever.”
