“Le Roux was crowned by Miss South Africa 2023, Natasha Joubert.”

As South Africans continue to celebrate Women’s Month, Mia le Roux (28) made history by becoming the first-ever hearing-impaired Miss South Africa.

Le Roux, who hails from Sasolburg in the Free State, and Ona Lenna Constatin (26) from Potchefstroom in North West were amongst this year’s top 16.

OFM News previously reported that Le Roux, who was born in Sasolburg and raised in Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape, is the first deaf Miss South Africa contestant. She went on to make history after winning the crown.

A marketing manager, model, and part-time B.Com. Marketing student, Le Roux shared how she was diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the age of one. She said her community rallied behind her, giving her the gift of hearing and inspiring her to make a positive impact and break barriers.

She stole the show at the event held at the SunBet Arena at Times Square in Pretoria on Saturday (10/8). The glamorous affair attracted a dazzling crowd dressed in their finest.

‘Congratulations again Mia’

Le Roux was crowned by Miss South Africa 2023 Natasha Joubert. The ANC in the Free State has sent congratulatory messages to Le Roux and said she is a role model who has shown the youth that anything is possible.

“May your reign be a testament to the power of inclusivity, diversity, and innovative technology that empowers individuals to reach heights. You are a beacon of hope and a shining example that anything is possible with hard work, passion, and the right support. Congratulations again, Mia!”
