South Africa’s problems result from mismanagement – expert─── DANE BEISHEIM 10:38 Thu, 17 Aug 2023

The problems facing South Africa, including the ongoing electricity crisis and poor service delivery, are the results of a prolonged period of mismanagement.
Political analyst and lecturer at the North-West University (NWU), Prof. Kedibone Phago, said since former President Jacob Zuma's regime, “we cannot as a country point to any meaningful contribution to the development agenda of the country. We are still trying by and large to clean up the mess of state capture and address issues within the security cluster as well as the economic cluster”.
Prof. Phago goes on to commend the opposition parties currently engaged in talks taking place in Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg, where a Multi-Party Charter for South Africa has been agreed upon.
“These are conversations that show a lot of foresight and interest in South Africa as a country. It must be supported by all South Africans so that we can envision the country beyond what it currently is.”
