Health MEC visits Tembisa Hospital in wake of viral video─── 10:42 Sat, 17 Dec 2022

Gauteng MEC of Health and Wellness Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko paid a visit to Tembisa Hospital on Friday.
The MEC’s visit came after a video made the rounds on social media, depicting the dire state of the casualty ward at the crisis-plagued facility.
In the video¸ patients are seen laying on the floor while others are sleeping on beds without any linen.
Nkomo-Ralehoko said the patients were moved to casualty as soon as beds were available in the wards.
“The hospital was in the process of completing an admission ward which will be used to decongest casualties.
“The patients were still waiting for the doctors to do check-ups, then after those observations, they can be admitted, so while in that process one of the patient’s family members took a video of the area where some of the patients were at, which is a waiting room.
“All the patients have been moved and allocated to a normalised environment, away from what was seen on social media, the patients are now relaxed and resting.”
