The veteran South African actor of stage and screen, Sam Phillips, reportedly passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 72.
News of his death was shared on Twitter.
Phillips was the first person from the African continent to walk on the red carpet as a nominee at the Academy Awards in America.
The legendary actor's career spanned 40 years, and he starred in Jacob's Cross, Generations, and Soul City, among others.
