Business for South Africa's (BSA) Public Health Workgroup is making a desperate appeal for protective gear.
BSA wants companies to consider urgently diverting their stocks to the national healthcare sector as Covid-19 takes hold.
The list of items needed includes masks, latex-free gloves, plastic aprons, visors, goggles, medical gowns, suits and overshoes.
South Africa has a dwindling cache of supplies.
Travel bans and export restrictions are exacerbating the situation.
South African business is collaborating with the government to reduce the risks and impact of the coronavirus.
