Bloemfontein mall in the dark─── CATHY DLODLO 11:19 Thu, 22 Jul 2021
One of Bloemfontein’s biggest shopping centres has been left in the dark since yesterday after the city’s electricity distribution company cut their electricity supply.
OFM News sent questions to Centlec’s spokesperson, Lele Mamatu, who confirmed the situation.
Marketing manager at the Loch Logan Waterfront, Meryl Henning, confirmed that the centre’s electricity supply was cut and this forced some of the shops to close their doors until power is restored.
She says large parts of the mall and tenants are not affected as they are on generators. Henning says they had a payment arrangement with Centlec at the time of their electricity being cut and the management of the centre is currently in negotiations with Centlec.
Mamatu says this is part of their efforts to get bigger businesses in the city - that owes a total of more than R400 million – to pay their outstanding debt.
