South Africa is leading the pack when it comes to controlling the grapevine leafroll virus, on grape farms.
This is according to the Agricultural Research Council’s Gerhard Pietersen.
The microscopic virus cannot be prevented by chemical measures and affects the quantity and quality of grape harvests.
According to Pietersen, there has been an improvement in grapes on Vergelegen Wine Estate, after active measures were taken to rid vineyards of the virus.
